Zoltán Kódaly (1882-1967)

To praise God must one plunge into an exalted or sorrowful mysticism? Haydn, Zelenka or, more recently, Kodály each prove that a smiling compassion and humanity have their place in prayer.
From the late baroque with Zelenka to the twentieth century with Kodály where formally-balanced choirs execute popular melodies, this programme will help us discover a variety of styles, sometimes daring harmonic progressions in a vocal challenge that the Ambronay Choir will meet either a cappella or accompanied by the Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble and Mirella Giardelli. An invitation to a voyage:  Eastern Europe through the centuries and at a heart beat... Mirella Giardelli, artistic director of the Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble
L'Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble

The Atelier des Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble

In counterpoint to the orchestral activity of the Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble, the Atelier (Workshop), inaugurated in January 2005 under the artistic direction of Mirella Giardelli, aims to develop the culture of the repertory, an attention to style and a polyvalence in its interpretation - attitudes shared by Marc Minkowski and Mirella Giardelli. The originality of the Atelier  lies in its approach to the repertory, in a new rapport with the public, in the different modalities of execution.

A true "musical academy", the Atelier goes beyond a simple orchestral logic. It might associate different disciplines (music, theatre, literature, dance, marionettes) and different players (orchestral musicians, choirs, amateur musicians, students and young professionals.). Among the works for this season: 1707, Il Primo Omicidio by Scarlatti, staged by Bruno Meyssat in a co-production with the Opéra national de Lyon, the Théâtre du Shaman, Les Subsistances et MC2: Maison de la Culture de Grenoble, Tendres Ténèbres (Sweet Shadows) after and with Nancy Huston in the framework of the Grenoble Jazz Festival, a Jeu de la Grenouille (The Game of the Frog) drawn from Platée by Rameau, revivals of former projects (L'Enfance de l'Art and Philémon et Baucis).
