The Ambronay remit has been expanded through the development of educational and training activities.
Artistic and cultural programmes for local schoolchildren have been put
in place, with the collaboration of the local education authorities.
For several years now, many students of all ages have benefitted from
talks and lectures in the classroom or at Ambronay, have attended open
rehearsals during the Festival, and discovered the architecture and
history of the Abbey, which has been classified an historic monument
since 1889. From 2005, school groups have also been accomodated for
stays of 2-5 days for heritage or culture study sessions.
You are a teacher wishing to construct an artistic and cultural project with your students.
The aim is to offer to each student an experience likely to aid his or
her intellectual and emotional development. Students are all active
participants in the project, with artists helping to discover and
enhance their artistic sensibilities and creative potential. In an
entertaining and creative way, we enable the meeting of several
different artistic disciplines: music, dance, fine art and
storytelling, or the discovery of heritage and architecture. Three
options are offered.
- Artistic workshops, field trips and heritage projects
Work with the artists takes place within the school or at Ambronay. The
timetable is structured according to the wishes of the teacher.
These allow the class to spend one or two days at Ambronay, with
accomodation within the abbey complex if required. The projects
undertaken will focus on artistic discovery or the discovery of
architecture and heritage.
- Cultural and heritage classes
With a duration of 3-5 days, these classes allow true immersion in a
prime cultural, artistic and historical site, in an atmosphere of
discovery, experimentation and creation.
Each project is planned in
collaboration with the teachers, artists and the Cultural Encounter
Centre team.
