For more than 20 years, the musicologist Jean Lionnet has tirelessly studied, transcribed and copied numerous unpublished eighteenth-century manuscripts in the Vatican Library. These pieces of sacred vocal music constitute an inestimable treasure which bears witness to the intense musical activity which reigned in Rome in the years between 1630 and 1700 and to the evolution of the Roman baroque style between Carissimi and Handel.
For the first time, thanks to the support of Livia Lionnet and the Baroque Music Centre of Versailles, Jérôme Correas will propose the discovery of pieces for one or several voices and instruments which will help to better understand, through Lorenzani, Mazzocchi or Marazzoli, other composers such as Foggia, Fabri or Costanzi, who have up until now been unjustly overlooked.
