Music and the Sacred

At the beginning of its new existence, Ambronay's Cultural Encounter Centre has set itself the task of opening a dialogue on the great concepts of music and the sacred; to define and explore their contradictions and their similarities.

What then are the issues surrounding a theme such as this?

This is a discussion which opens up contemporary questions on the experience of time, of absence, of memory, of loss, of the individual and the collective, of the privileged relationships which music offers to us.

It is the ‘and' then, in ‘music and the sacred', which is very much at the heart of the debate.
