LISZT & WAGNER

SONATAS & METAMORPHOSES

Thomas HITZLBERGER, Steingraeber 'Liszt' Piano

Two illustrious composers, Franz Liszt and his son-in-law Richard Wagner. One great work, Liszt's Sonata in B minor. One instrument, the Steingraeber 'Liszt' Piano which Liszt had played a mere month before his death. One unique recording, of remembrance, homage and metamorphosis.

Serpentes Ignei in deserto

Johann Adolph Hasse (1699 - 1783)

Les Paladins - Jérome Corréas

One of the most performed composers of the eighteenth century, Hasse bridges the gap between the baroque and the classical. His oratorio The Fiery Serpents in the Wilderness is a perfect example of this, and JC has brought together a cast of virtuoso baroque vocalists to perform this powerfully expressive work. A new live recording.

Les carnetz secretz

Les carnetz secretz

Marguerite d'Autriche (1480-1530)

Les Jardins de Courtoisie - Anne Delafosse-Quentin

As with the royal monastery of Brou conceived as a loving memorial to her husband Philibert, who died tragically young, Margaret of Austria saw the sumptuously illuminated chansonniers (collections of songs) she compiled as intimate diaries in which she could give free rein to her sighs and 'regrets'. This highly cultuvated princess assembled a collection of polyphonic pieces by the finest Franco-Flemish composers which perfectly mittored her inmot emotions.

La Giuditta

La Giuditta,

Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725)

Le Parlement de musique Strasbourg.

Direction : Martin Gester

Avec Céline Ricci, Adriana Fernández, Martin Oro, Vincenzo Di Donato, Bruno Rostand

Alessandro Scarlatti believed La Guiditta to be the "best" of his oratorios. Focussing on one of the great heroines of antiquity - Judith, liberator of her people - here is a two-act drama of commanding musical and theatrical tension, eloquent in its humanity and psychology.

A score of muscle and nerves.

Una nuova inventione per Maria Barbara

Sonates
Una nuova inventione per Maria Barbara
Domenico Scarlatti

Aline Zylberajch, piano forte d'après Cristofori

Why did Maria Barbara Braganza of Portugal, Queen of Spain, own five expensive fortepianos by Bartolomeo Cristofori, considered as the creator of the 'modern piano'? Its rounded solf timbre and dynamic gradation heralded the sound-world of the 19th century.

Aline Zylberajch unfolds a wealth of colours and shades hitherto unknown, allowing the complexity and imaginative genius of Scarlatti's music to unfold within the sweet.

An aesthetic, emotial revelation !
